A great circular walk on the Black Mountains.
Starting from Capel-Y-Fin we headed NW up the valley, which is really pretty. Once on the top and at the ridge edge, we had good views into Mid-Wales. Quick detour to take in Tympa (Lord Hereford’s Knob) and then back down and westwards along the ridge to the turning for Waun Fach – the highest point on the Blacks.
From Waun Fach we dropped down the hill to cross Gwynne Fawr reservoir at the dam, then back uphill diagonally onto the ridge and to the summit of Bal Bach then along the ridge and back to Capel-Y-Fin. approx. 14 miles
