Arran’s, Mid Wales – February 2019

Weekend meet staying near Dinas Mawddwy, at Bryn Hafod hut. The hut is at the head of Cwm Cywarch under the Arran’s ridge and provides a good starting point to explore the hills around.

After a quite wild Friday night of blustery wind and rain, part of the group went up onto the ridge and onto Arran Fawddwy, though did not get much of a view due to cloud and snow. The remainder of the group also went onto the ridge and across it to the SE, skirting back round below Foel Benddin and back up the valley. A hearty meal and the hut now having a wood-burner made for a very enjoyable evening.

Sunday’s excursion was a short walk up Ffridd Gulcwm, SW of Dinas Mawddrwy, before heading for home.
